WESTCOUNTRY WEB - Support & FAQ

There are a whole host of questions most people think of when they engage a web design company or look at a

business website for the first time.

Below are some of the questions we’ve been asked in the past, if your question isn’t here, email it to us & we’ll answer where we can.

Question?

If you purchase and manage my domain name on my behalf, does that mean I still own it?

Answer:

Yes, of course. By law, Australian domain names (.com.au and .net.au) can only be purchased if the purchaser satisfies a number of conditions. the basic rules state that you must supply an Australian Business Number (ABN) and that the name you are buying must match or closely match the name of your business. For other domain names (.com, .org etc ) this rule doesn’t apply. When we purchase a domain name for you, we ALWAYS register it in your name using your ABN and your business name. Should you ever want to move your domain name to another management company, you can be sure that ownership stays with you.

Question?

What is a Responsive Website?

Answer:

In the early days of the Internet, most people used a desktop computer with a small monitor & a mouse to view a website, today, more and more visitors are using touch screen mobile phones or tablet to surf the web. A responsive website is one that detects the size of screen & device the visitor is using & delivers a design that makes viewing & navigating the site both easy & enjoyable. Our websites automatically deliver the best experience for your visitors whatever their viewing device so you can get your business message across clearly & effectively. As an added bonus, Google now put responsive websites ahead of non responsive sites in mobile search results in an attempt to drive better designs for Internet users on the move.

It would depend on the type of website and what access you now have to it. Yes, once we receive payment for any outstanding invoices, all website files are yours to take away at any time. Obviously we don’t want to lose you but we understand that situations can change & we will assist you or your new hosting / management company to transfer your website and associated domain names to their new home.
